5.
A long jagged road
Soft euphonious chords play
Rhythmic drops of light
I came up with this haiku while I was returning home in the car from a wedding. I was sleeping and listening to the piano music, but then I woke up suddenly when we went on a very bumpy road (this was in India). When I woke up, I actively started to listen to music with my eyes closed, and I could feel the dashes of light as the car passed each streetlight. It felt quite nice.
4.
A tired restless mind
clicks of the keyboard repeat
On and on and on
This haiku was made after a 14 hour workday so I have no fucking idea what I am writing, my brain is fucking fried right now.
3.
The fan gently hums
French melodies light the dark
A whiff of calmness
This haiku resonates with me deeply as this is a safe area for me. Whenever I feel down, I put on some music and just stare up at the ceiling. This moment brings me back to the present and reassures me that everything will be alright.
2.
The thought of death looms
A dark umbra lies under
Oh God save my soul
This haiku came to me when I was feeling hopeless about my progress, I had gone back into the pit of addiction and saw no light at the end of the tunnel. This caused the suicidal thoughts to creep back into my mind and I remember thinking the last line of this haiku as a last-ditch attempt to get rid of those thoughts.
1.
A dark misty path
Slugs basking on the damp rocks
The petrichor smell
I came up with this haiku when I was hiking with my friends in the mountains of Switzerland. It started raining when we were halfway through our hike and decided to take a break, after it had stopped raining we decided that it was time to turn back and head back to our room as we didn’t want to go trekking in mud. As we were walking I noticed a tremendous amount of slugs coming out from the fog into the trials, it was something I had never seen before.
